Last night, the Tower Theatre transformed into a roaring-’20s speakeasy—but with a few less fedoras and way more people trying to remember where they parked. The Squirrel Nut Zippers hit the stage like they had been shot out of a brass-powered cannon, instantly turning back the clock to the time of big band jazz and swing.
From the first note, the horns were blaring, the banjo was banjo-ing, and the crowd looked genuinely torn between dancing and Googling whether swing dancing is covered by their insurance.
The Zippers themselves were in top form—equal parts chaos, charm, and “did they just summon a ghost from 1928?” The Tower’s walls shook, the floor vibrated, and everyone in the building may still be stuck in some kind of jazz-induced trance.
By the finale, everyone was sweaty, smiling, and questioning whether they should start dressing like bootleggers. The Squirrel Nut Zippers didn’t just play a show—they threw a full-tilt, jazz-fueled, horn-blasted party, and OKC happily let them.
11/10. Would swing wildly and off-beat again.
