11th AnnuAL Thanksgiving Mashup

The 11th Annual Thanksgiving Mashup barreled through the Oklahoma City Farmers Market this weekend, and let me tell you—I have never been so simultaneously impressed, confused, and terrified while holding a camera. The skaters were flying, the crowd was screaming, and I was somewhere in the middle of it all, desperately trying to look like I knew the difference between a jammer, a pivot, and whatever mystical being controls the penalty box.

Despite being thoroughly out of my element (and occasionally photographing the wrong direction entirely), the action was nonstop and the energy was off the charts. Hits landed, wheels screeched, and I learned that roller derby is 50% strategy, 50% chaos, and 100% me pretending I understood any of it.

All in all? An absolute blast. I came for the photos, stayed for the mayhem, and left with a new respect for anyone who can sprint on wheels while simultaneously body-checking strangers with holiday cheer.
