Beer City Music Hall

I went to Beer City Music Hall last night to see Cheekface, and I’m here to report that the evening contained significantly fewer actual cheek faces than advertised.

Shauna Dean Cokeland got things rolling before Catbite absolutely tore into the place with their infectious blend of ska and punk. By the time Cheekface hit the stage, the room was already primed for maximum dancing, yelling, and making questionable decisions with one’s remaining hearing.

And Cheekface delivered. Their quirky, sarcastic, indie-punk energy was exactly what the doctor ordered—or at least what the doctor would have ordered if the doctor had better taste in music. The songs were catchy, the crowd was into it, and the whole show had that wonderfully weird feeling of being at a concert where everyone seems to know they’re having a ridiculous amount of fun.

I walked out sweaty, slightly deaf, and completely satisfied. Another successful evening of voluntarily standing in front of very loud speakers while pretending my knees are still 25.

Would absolutely do it again.
